i saw a picture of you
on my computer screen
the scene was like heaven
and the world looked so clean

you were walking along
while gazing peacefully out
past mountains and into the sky
at a real world without a doubt

i looked for a long time
at the sky and the grass
then at you walking forward
just letting soft time pass

it struck me as unreal
the mountains behind you
your face against a perfect sky
too amazing to be true

your shadow fell silently behind
as the sun hid on the right
all i want is to be there with you
as i sit here shivering tonight

i don't want to think of you
as if you're just a goal
if you'd let me into your life
maybe then i would be whole

the grass there is quiet
and forever frozen in time
in this place where you walked
the world speaks in rhyme

the clouds cascade onward
out onto a horizon so perfect
i see the reality in the beautiful
it's something i want to protect

recently the game has changed
now i want to change your mind
i know what i've done wrong
but my heart is still entwined

i want to get away from here
and go into this picture with you
i'm sick of the same guilt
i want to start this love anew

like those mountains i go on
forever on a journey to nowhere
i wish you'd let me in the door
so i can finally escape this despair

i want to show you who i am
not the girl you've seen before
you haven't given me the chance
i don't want to be alone anymore

those mountains and that sky
you standing with your shadow
the image tries to set me free
and begs to set my soul aglow

i can hardly imagine being there
the wind and the sun in my eyes
but i want to be there someday
with you under the painted skies

i want to feel the grass under me
standing with you by my side
i want to look out into that world
setting everything else aside

i need that chance to show you
and i want that chance to be
you haven't even seen me yet
you'd be surprised, i guarantee

it's just that you're so different
you're new and exiting and strange
if you would let me love you
then your opinion might change

in this picture you're walking away
everything i am tells me to follow
i want to run after and take your hand
but i sit here and my heart is hollow

these are only pixels on the screen
formed to look like they should
but i know somewhere that place exists
under the blue sky where you stood

i saw this picture of you
just the pixels on the screen
this alternate world so out of reach
and i still can't say what i mean
